Chinese Coking Coal Demand to Create Spot Market

Macarthur Coal’s chief executive, Nicole Hollows, has joined BHP Billiton in predicting a move towards more spot market sales to meet growing Chinese demand.

Ms Hollows told a conference in Sydney yesterday that if rapid growth in coking coal demand from Chinese steel mills continued, it would drive a shift away from the contract benchmark system that is in place today.
