Some time ago Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Tata Steel on the government’s request to allocate a block of Indian coal mines managed by CIL.
Chairman of Coal India Ltd. (CIL) said, little was ready to develop coking coal blocks together Tata Steel. Coking coal blocks to be developed in conjunction with a small coal blocks with reserves of 7 million tons. As for coking coal blocks to be developed together with SAIL is a coal mining blocks 7-8.

Due to the rising number of accidents in its coal mining industry, the central government of China has come out with a new policy to tackle the problem. As a result, the number of small and medium size mining companies will be eliminated due to the high rate of accidents, leaving only companies whose capacity exceeds 90M tons annually. The problem now is that this policy will also cause metallurgic (met) coal production to drop significantly as over half of the met coal in the nation is from Shangxi province.

Walter Energy starts producing coal that’s part of $175M expansion
Coal producer Walter Energy said Tuesday it has started production at one of its mines and expects to produce two million tons next year.
The new production comes from a $175 million expansion that will increase Walter Energy’s rated capacity for premium coking coal to approximately 9.5 million tons in 2012.

Coal Production from UK Coal Mining Company Lower Than Expected Target
